Devices, plans & accessoriesMedical Alert & Fall Detection Devices for Every Lifestyle
Every person who needs a medical alert device is shopping for something slightly different. Some want the simplest possible pendant with one obvious button. Others want a smartwatch that doesn't look like a medical device at all. Some are shopping for a parent living with dementia and need indoor location accuracy on top of GPS.
Mi-Lo Pendant
The Mi-Lo Pendant is Life Assist’s simplest device: one SOS button, built-in GPS, and its own cellular connection, with no phone to pair and no home base station to install. Pressing the button opens two-way, hands-free voice and connects to a chosen family member or a monitoring centre, depending on how the account is set up. It’s a common choice for seniors who want to stay independent at home, for children who need a simple way to reach a parent, and for anyone who wants a straightforward layer of protection without learning a new device.
Mi-Lo Smartwatch
For anyone who’d rather wear something that looks like an everyday smartwatch, the Mi-Lo Smartwatch includes the same core safety functions as the Pendant, plus additional health features and several location technologies — GPS, WiFi, Beacon, and LBS- to help determine location both indoors and out. It works without a mandatory monthly fee, Emergency response can be offered in more than one language, with every call beginning in English.
This page brings together Life Assist’s full Mi-Lo product lineup — the Pendant, the Smartwatch, along with the Mi-Lo Beacon accessory, and the monthly monitoring subscription options, so you can compare everything in one place before going to the product page with the details you need.
Each Mi-Lo device works as a personal emergency response system (PERS): press the SOS button, let built-in fall detection detect a fall automatically—and the device calls for help without a paired smartphone or needing to press the SOS button.
Life Assist Advantage Inc. is a family business, founded in 2023 by Tony Morelli after four years working as a primary care paramedic. In that role, he saw firsthand how quickly people can lose their independence once they move into a care facility — their space, their routines, and the parts of daily life that make it feel like their own. That experience shaped the goal behind every product on this page: give people a way to age in place, or simply live independently, while still having real help available if something goes wrong.
Fall Detection Across the Lineup
Fall detection is included with both the Mi-Lo Pendant and Mi-Lo Smartwatch at no additional cost. Customers can choose to turn the feature on or off based on their preferences. If a potential fall is detected while the feature is enabled, the device can trigger an alert based on the customer’s selected service plan.
Choosing the Right Medical Alert Device for Your Situation
Living alone vs. living with family
If you live alone, the SOS button is only useful if it reliably reaches someone — whether that's a monitored family contact through the Monitoring Subscription or a trained emergency team. If family is nearby and usually reachable, the Pendant's direct-to-family routing may be all you need.
Indoor risk vs. being out and about
If most of the day happens at home — and falls are more likely in specific spots like a bathroom or staircase — pairing a Mi-Lo device with a Beacon adds room-level detail that plain GPS cannot give indoors. If the person is frequently out walking, shopping, or travelling, GPS-only coverage from the Pendant or Smartwatch already covers that.
A simple, dedicated safety device
The Mi-Lo Pendant is a great choice for someone who wants a simple, dedicated safety device with minimal interaction required — a large SOS button, two-way voice, fall detection, location services, and Safe Zone alerts, without the extra functions or screen of a smartwatch. It also has significantly longer battery life, approximately 48 hours compared with approximately 24 hours for the Smartwatch.
Store up to 10 contacts, reachable directly from the device
The Mi-Lo Smartwatch suits someone who benefits from having the device securely and consistently with them. Storing up to ten contacts gives the wearer more people they can reach directly from the wrist. An optional Secure Wear Clasp can help keep the watch on the wearer, useful in some dementia, Alzheimer's, or care situations.
Device cost plus your monitoring plan
Both devices are a one-time purchase plus a monitoring subscription. The Pendant is CA$195 up front and the Smartwatch is CA$269 up front. Family Monitored is $50/month, $145 every 3 months, or $500/year; 911 Monitored is $60/month, $175 every 3 months, or $620/year — annual plans save $100/year over paying monthly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need the Subscription to use the Pendant?
The Pendant’s SOS and monitoring functions rely on an active subscription, since that’s what connects the device to a contact when the SOS button is pressed.
Does the Smartwatch require a monthly subscription?
Yes. Both the Smartwatch and the Pendant need an active subscription to work. You can choose Family Monitored or 911 Monitored, billed monthly, quarterly, or annually.
What does the Beacon do that the Pendant doesn't already do?
The Pendant provides GPS location generally. The Beacon is an accessory that improves room-level indoor accuracy when installed in a specific location, such as a bedroom or front entrance.
Is fall detection included on every device?
Yes. Fall detection is included on both the Mi-Lo Pendant and the Mi-Lo Smartwatch, at no additional cost. Users can choose to toggle fall detection on or off for either the pendant or the watch, and if a fall is detected while it is enabled, the device can raise an alert based on the selected service plan
Can I buy accessories without buying a new Pendant?
Yes. The Belt Clip, Lanyard, Wristband, Charging Base, and Beacon are available as standalone accessories for an existing Mi-Lo Pendant.
Where is my data stored?
Within Canadian cloud infrastructure, in line with Canadian privacy legislation, including PIPEDA.
